Cleaning
How does Byegone work?
Byegone shows your photos and videos one at a time. Swipe left to put an item on the deletion list, swipe right to keep it and swipe up to set it aside for later. Tap the photo to see it full screen. Use the album button at the top to choose what to clean, and the calendar button to pick a year, a month or another period.
Will Byegone delete photos without asking me?
No. Swiping left only puts an item on the deletion list. Photos and videos are deleted only when you open the list (the trash button at the top), tap "Delete all" and confirm in the system dialog. After that they go to Recently Deleted in the Photos app, where you can still restore them for 30 days.
I deleted something by mistake. How do I get it back?
If you haven't confirmed yet, tap "Undo" or open the deletion list and tap the X in the corner of the item. If you already confirmed, open the Photos app, go to Albums → Recently Deleted and restore it. Items stay there for 30 days.
What does "Later" do?
Swipe up when you can't decide yet. The item is set aside: it isn't deleted and it isn't marked as kept, and it won't show up again in the normal review. To go through these items, open the album list and choose "Later" at the top.
What does Smart cleaning find?
Duplicates, similar photos, blurry photos, received photos and large old videos. Byegone analyzes your library on your phone, in the background. A large library can take a while the first time. If you prefer, Byegone can do this only while your iPhone is charging (Settings → Smart cleaning).
Sorting
How do I sort photos into albums?
Open the Sort tab and tap "Set albums". Pick an album for each direction (up, right and left), or create a new one. Then swipe a photo in that direction to add it to the album. Swipe down to skip a photo.
Why does sorting need access to all photos?
Adding photos to albums works only with full access to your photo library. With limited access you can still clean the photos you selected. You can change access in the iPhone Settings app → Privacy & Security → Photos → Byegone.
Privacy and iCloud
Does Byegone upload my photos?
No. Byegone has no servers and no accounts, and everything happens on your phone. See the privacy policy for details.
Some photos load slowly or show an iCloud message.
With "Optimize iPhone Storage", some photos and videos are stored only in iCloud and have to be downloaded before you can see them. To save your data plan, Byegone doesn't download over cellular data by default. You can still keep, delete or sort these items without opening them. To allow cellular downloads, turn off "Don't download over cellular data" in Settings.
How do I change my ad privacy choices?
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Byegone asks for your ad choices before showing ads. You can change them at any time in Settings → About → Ad privacy settings.
Ads and purchases
How do I remove ads?
Open the "No ads" tab and choose one of the options. Every option removes ads forever. Pick a higher price only if you'd like to support development. It's a one-time purchase, not a subscription.
I bought "Remove ads" but I still see ads, or I have a new iPhone.
Open the "No ads" tab and tap "Restore purchases". Make sure you're signed in to the App Store with the same Apple Account you used for the purchase. If that doesn't help, write to us.
How do I get a refund?
Purchases are handled by Apple, so refunds are too. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in and choose the purchase.
Other
Which languages does Byegone support?
English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Serbian, Turkish, Japanese, Korean and Traditional Chinese. Byegone uses your iPhone's language. To use a different language just for Byegone, open the Settings app → Apps → Byegone → Language.
Is there an Android version?
Not yet. Byegone for Android is coming later.
