Privacy Policy
Byegone helps you clean up and sort the photos and videos on your phone. It is made by Blagoje Samardžija, an independent developer from Serbia who publishes apps under the name Bugzzy ("we", "us"). This policy explains what happens to your data when you use Byegone on iPhone or Android.
In short
- Your photos and videos never leave your phone. Byegone has no servers and no accounts.
- We don't collect, store, sell or share personal data about you.
- The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. Google may collect some device data to show ads – see Ads.
- Purchases are handled by Apple or Google. We never see your payment details.
Your photos and videos
Byegone asks for access to your photo library so you can review, delete and sort your photos and videos. Everything happens on your device. Nothing is uploaded: not your photos, not previews, not their metadata.
- Deleting. Nothing is deleted until you confirm. Deleted items go to the system's Recently Deleted album (iPhone) or trash (Android), where you can restore them for a limited time.
- Sorting. When you sort items into albums (iPhone) or folders (Android), the change is made in your device's photo library.
- Smart cleaning. To find duplicates, similar shots and blurry photos, the app calculates small fingerprints of your photos on your device. They stay on your device and can't be turned back into images.
- iCloud Photos (iPhone). If a photo or video is stored only in iCloud, the system may download it from Apple when you open it, following the download settings in the app. This happens between your device and Apple; we receive nothing.
What is stored on your device
To remember your progress, the app keeps this data on your device only:
- your choices (keep, delete, later) and the album or folder each swipe direction leads to;
- statistics such as items reviewed, space freed and your daily streak;
- the smart cleaning index (the fingerprints described above);
- your settings and whether you have bought "Remove ads".
You can erase this data with the reset option in Settings, or by deleting the app. Your phone's own backups (iCloud or Google) may include some of it, depending on your device settings.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, Byegone schedules reminders on your device, for example when items have been waiting in your deletion list for a day. They are created on your phone; no data is sent anywhere.
Ads
The free version shows banner ads provided by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google's ads SDK may collect:
- your IP address, which can be used to estimate your approximate location;
- device and app information, such as device model, operating system version and language;
- on Android, your device's advertising ID;
- information about the ads you see and tap, and basic app usage such as app launches;
- diagnostic information about the ads SDK.
On iPhone, Byegone doesn't ask for permission to track you (App Tracking Transparency), so the ads SDK can't access your device's advertising identifier (IDFA).
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app asks for your choices through Google's consent form before ads are shown. You can change them at any time in Settings → About → Ad privacy settings. On Android you can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings.
Ads are shown only when your phone is online; without an internet connection the app makes no ad requests. If you buy "Remove ads", the app stops requesting ads.
Google handles this information under its own policies: Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Purchases
"Remove ads" is a one-time purchase processed by the App Store or Google Play. We don't receive your name, email address or payment details. The app only checks with Apple or Google whether you own the purchase and remembers the result on your device.
Analytics and crash reports
Byegone contains no analytics or crash-reporting tools of its own. If you have allowed it in your device settings, Apple or Google may share anonymous, aggregated usage statistics and crash reports with us. We use them only to fix problems and improve the app.
Children
Byegone is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we don't knowingly collect personal data from children.
Your rights
Because we don't collect or store personal data about you, there is usually nothing for us to access, correct or delete. Everything Byegone keeps is on your device, and you can delete it at any time. For data that Google processes for ads, you can change your choices as described above or contact Google. If you have a question about your privacy, contact us. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will publish the new version on this page and update the effective date above.
